Rachel is a theme based teacher and regularly teaches on the yamas, niyamas and limbs of yoga, Yoga Sutras, The Elements, and Metta and enjoys weaving these into all components of the class in relevant applications that students can take with them off the mat as tools for transformation and emotional self regulation.

Rachel has over 20 years of working and practicing in energy medicine with sound healing, music, energy healing and yoga. She draws from this experience as well as her commitment to ongoing continuing education in all these areas studying and learning from Master teachers as well as learning everyday from the amazing students that show up in places to share practice.

Facilitated by Rachel and her husband JT Allen, also a Registered Yoga Teacher. The focus is on creating support, healthy communication, joyfulness, intimacy, and balance in supporting postures, balance postures and shared adjustments.

This workshop offers the space to celebrate the feminine. Participants will engage in reflective, guided journal writing, group drumming and women’s circle dances and songs.

Yoga forms offered connect to Yin energies and Moon postures that follow the waxing, waning, new and full moon cycles. Slow, soulful vinyasa and fun, funky, free movement!

Rachel offers opportunities to gather in community and explore the space between spiritual practice and activism. Spiritual practice, particularly yoga, can often become self absorbed and activism can, on the other spectrum, exist in a perpetual state of outrage.

Sacred activism finds the balance that allows us to be clear about the state of affairs in the world, resource us for overwhelm and discomfort so we can grow as well as step into deep rest and nourishment when we need to so we can show up in the world committed and connected.

This is a trauma sensitive, social justice focused practice that engages contemplative practice and creative expression with dialogue around sensitive subjects such as race, class, gender and the intersection of systems of oppression and how they create a false hierarchy of identity.

This is living and doing the work of ensuring all beings be well and have equity and access to essential resources for thriving, freedom to show up in the body they show up in, safely navigating in their bodies and the ability to live in peace.
